Root Canals

A lot of people believe that root canal procedures are painful experiences, but the truth is that this treatment actually alleviates the severe pain caused by decay and infection. At Davis Dental we have the skill and experience to help you through this process with as little discomfort as possible.

When Do You Need a Root Canal?

Sometimes a toothache is just a toothache, but sometimes it may be much more serious. We will only recommend a root canal when the decay or infection has reached the nerve and damaged the pulp. This is the point where a root canal is the only way to repair or save the tooth.

Some of the signs you may need this procedure include:

  • Serious pain when you chew
  • A single tooth becoming dark and discolored
  • Extreme sensitivity to hot and cold
  • Swelling and tenderness in the soft tissues around the tooth
  • Persistent and reoccurring pimples in the gums

How It Works

We begin with an x-ray to spot any signs of infection around the roots or the bone next to the roots. This will help us create a plan of action which always starts by applying an anesthetic to minimize the discomfort. We’ll then drill the necessary hole so we can remove the pulp, bacteria, and decayed nerve. We’ll make sure the hole is completely cleaned out before sealing it up again.

You don’t have to keep suffering through this kind of pain. Remember, the treatment is to alleviate the pain, so don’t hesitate to call us and set an appointment.
